What's New in Streamline-ENV?
|
This page provides a complete history of enhancements and corrections for released versions of Streamline-ENV.
Note: Before installing a new version of Streamline-ENV be sure to uninstall any previous versions. License information and settings are retained during this process.
Version 2.0.0 (12/01/2008)
- Using the File Import feature, you can import and analyze data from other instruments and sources. Data can be imported from Excel Workbooks or delimited text file formats.
- Streamline will handle long or descriptive parameter names that are assigned to a file before it is imported. For example, rather than a shortened name of "ODO" the complete phrase of "Optical Dissolved Oxygen" can be used!
- Correct for fouling and calibration drift to recover data accuracy. Streamline implements standardized methods outlined in the USGS document "Guidelines and Standard Procedures for Continuous Water-Quality Monitors: Station Operation, Record Computation, and Data Reporting" (Techniques and Methods, TM1-D3) to compute data corrections.
- New options let you save calibration summary reports in Microsoft Excel®, PDF, WORD® RTF formats or even as a web page (html)!
- Easily plot and analyze DAT files containing more than 20 parameters. New V2 sondes with multiple optical ports can store more parameters in a file than can be plotted at one time in EcoWatch®. Streamline handles these multiparameter files with ease.
- Enhanced options in the user Preferences allows you to display dates in a variety of US and International formats.
- You may now change the 'Site Name' that is stored in a file! In Analyst, click on a Site Name in the File Listing and enter the new name.
- New file management functions - rename or delete files directly from the File Listing!
- A printer other then the Default printer can be selected when printing the file listing, a chart, or data listing in Analyst.
- Create and save high resolution chart images by setting a scaling factor.
- New AUTO feature for YSI devices. Automatically connects and matches it with a sonde in the database or, if the device is not yet in the database, Streamline will add it.
- Added command button to run the wiper on a sonde in the Deployment Wizard. The option is available when running in Disrcete Mode.
- Status messages are provided to indicate state of acquisition and recording in the Deployment Wizard when collecting real time data from a YSI sonde or GPS.
- Enhanced identification of optical sensors in 6-series and V2 sondes with multiple optical ports. An optical sensor can be installed in any bulkhead port (i.e., 'T', 'C', 'O', and 'B' port designation) and Streamline will recognize it. For example a turbidity probe is recognized in the oxygen port (designated 'O' on the sonde bulkhead).
- Stop discrete and unattended sonde deployments with the 'Cancel Deployments' option in the Deployment Wizard. Sonde is placed in low power (sleep) mode to conserve battery power.
- Windows and forms are positioned and centered in for easier viewing when first opened.
- New area style plotting method is available in the graph preferences in Analyst.
- New chart templates are available including bar graph, bathymetric-area, and several tailored for vertical profile data.
- When saving statistics reports or exporting data files (to individual Excel® files), the Excel® files no longer include an extra blank worksheet named "Sheet1".
- Additional help tooltips have been added to the File Listing in Analyst.
- The names of data files in the File Listing are shown in blue text to indicate that QA/QC operations are applied to one or more parameters.
- In the drop down parameter list in the File Listing, an asterix next to a parameter name indicates that QA/QC applied to that parameter.
- The time span for a file is shown in blue text in the File Listing to indicate that time limits are specified that limit the time span.
- Expanded description of sensor names in the 'Probe Maintenance' of the Calibration Summary Report Details form.
- Enhanced status messages in Depoyment Wizard's status bar to detail play/record settings.
- Seconds are displayed when using the cursor tracking features in Analyst.
- Visible parameters on a chart are maintained when applying data limits (i.e., limiting the time span of a file).
- Select and copy text directly from the terminal emulator window.
- Terminal retains focus after a menu selection to maintain key capture.
- Corrected parameter report bug indentified by King County, Washington (thank you!). The bug had the potential to misidentify a parameter's visibility in the report settings when it was actually turned off. It resulted from a value retained and maintained for backwards compatibility with older model sondes. Only a few parameters were affected and the bug manifested itself only when templates were utilized.
- File listing correctly sorts by sample count and time span.

Version 1.5.0 (09/20/2007)
- New file management feature organizes calibration reports and automatically creates shortcut links in Analyst. Reports are sorted by instrument and date to allow the user to quickly acces any report.
- New expanded User Manual included with Version 1.5.
- Streamline version 1.5.0 adds a great new feature to the Statistics module recommended by our friends at the RI Department of Environmental Management and the University of Rhode Island. The new feature adds an additional format for the statistics report that provides the mean (average) of the parameter measurements versus time so you can generate monthly, weekly, daily or hourly reports. To access the new reports open Analyst and then select 'Statistics' from the drop-down list (Action column in the file listing) for the file you want to analyze. This opens the Statistics window - in the menu area use the drop-down menu to change from 'Standard Format' to 'Mean-Series Format' and then under the 'Summary' drop-down list select the time interval (daily, hourly, weekly, monthly or summary) over which the averages will be computed.
- Both the new and the traditional statistics format can now be saved to an Excel file in addition to PDF, HTML or RTF. Look under the 'Save Report' menu for the new option to save as an Excel file so you can analyze and plot the results using Excel.
- New QA/QC function uses the operational range of the sensors (as specified by a manufacturer) (e.g., conductivity, temperature) as a QA/QC condition to remove outliers.
- Streamline-ENV maintains a database containing the sensor range information (minimum and maximum) for the sensors. Values be modified to update range information when the manufacturer updates the specifications.
- Improved statistics report formatting for better presentation on various printers.
- Created file associations for Streamline-ENV data files so that files with 'dat' or 'qaf' may be opened with Streamline-ENV. Double-click a file in Windows Explorer (or right-click the file and select 'Analyze with Streamline-ENV from the menu) to launch Streamline-ENV and open the file in Analyst.
- Calibration help files have been entirely revised to have up-to-date instructions and information.
- New calibration help is included for chlorophyll and ORP probes.
- Access Shortcuts to specify the source and destination folders in the Batch Export program.
- Improved accuracy when Calibration Manager attempts to select the parameter shown in the calibration chart. This feature compares the sensor name selected from the calibration menu to the parameter report. Since the names do not always match, a parameter may not be selected or a variant (e.g., conductivity instead of specific conductivity) may be chosen. In such cases the correct parameter may still be selected manually.
- Width of the columns in the File List (in Analyst) are automatically adjusted to display the widest text string.
- The thousands separator and use of a comma as a decimal character is supported (Set these values in View Preferences). Note: When a comma is used for the decimal character, the Data List in Analyst may only be saved to tab-delimited and HTML formats.
- Added mechanism to correctly handle certain DAT files containing alternate format date and time.

Version 1.3.4 (07/13/2007)
- User Preferences includes a new option to specify the folder where the YSI Code Updater program is installed. If you do not have the YSI Code Updater installed you should download the program from www.ysi.com and install it. This allows the Code Updater program to be run from inside Streamline-ENV.
- 'Tel' and 'Fax' are printed before their respective numbers in Calibration Summary footer.
- Fixed Excel Export function accessed by right-clicking the data list in Analyst. Worksheet protection is also turned off during the export so that the Excel worksheet format and columns may be modified.
- Changed "Override 'Out of Range' warning" to "Don't allow 'Out of Range' option" to clarify the meaning of the setting in the User Preferences. If the box is checked then Streamline will not allow a calibration to continue when the sonde returns a 'Warning: Out of Range! Accept Y/N?' message. When unchecked, the user can select whether to accept the calibration or to cancel the calibration.
- You can now cancel from 'Save As' dialog boxes in Analyst.
- Corrected invalid path reference to the YSI Code Updater program ("File Not Found" error). The path to the code updater folder is now set in VIEW-->PREFERENCES. Once the directory containing the updater.exe program is correctly specified, a checkmark will appear next to the entry location on the PREFERENCES dialog.

The format is FNAMEMMDDYYYYhhmmss.dat where FNAME is the discrete name set by the user (a blank name is acceptable), MM is the month, DD the day, YYYY the year, hh the hour, mm the minute and ss the second.
- Changed "% Good" heading to "%" in the Statistics Report. '%' indicates the percent of the data samples that have not been flagged as invalid.
- Modified menu spacing in the Statistics Report window so the down arrows remain visible when 'Large Fonts' are enabled in Windows Display properties.
- Clicking the 'Save Report' button (instead of the down arrow) in the Statistics Report window will bring of the "Save As" dialog box with the default PDF format.
